I always use self check out and the area was big enough not to be congested, so I got in & out pretty quick. Nice store.
Very expansive, clean store. Helpful and available staff at this location. I had an especially pleasant associate in the pharmacy, Steve somebody.
This Walmart and the one in Morris, IL are the closest ones to me, so I shop here fairly often. This one is perhaps just a smidge smaller than the one in Morris, but still has a good selection of items, and often rare good buys on their clearance racks as well. I wasn't happy with the deli fried chicken I bought here earlier this year (too dry) -- but hopefully that was just an off day at the deli. The deli salads are pretty decent, though, and the adjacent bakery department usually has an excellent selection of pastry (plus loaves of French bread for a buck -- our go-to option for bread with Sunday dinner!).

I know people are really down on Wal-Mart, but the Pontiac store is awesome. 95% of their employees are nice and helpful. The store is clean and organized except on rare occasions.
Store closes all registers nightly from 1155pm to 1205am. Awful customer service. Walked into the store at 1142pm. Number one, no one could tell me where to find a particular product (although I pulled it up on the Wal-Mart app and it showed in stock in aisle Z21). I finally locate the product and head for an open register. I almost bump into Meghan, a store associate. We excuse ourselves and I continue walking down the checkout lanes. I quickly discover that the self checkout lanes are the only lanes open so I head that way. As I am walking up to the register with 6 of the same item in my hands, Meghan stops me. "Sorry, you can't checkout, I'm going to close this register. You will have to wait 10 minutes." Huh? I look at the register next to me where a Caucasian gentleman is checking out his items. I'm slightly confused. I ask, "Are you closing the self checkout registers? Is there another lane open?" Meghan shakes her head, "No, all the registers. You'll have to wait 10 minutes." She steps between me and the open register, turns her back to me and shuts down the register. I was actually traveling across country and didn't have ten minutes to hang out in the front of the store. Disappointed, I told Meghan that I couldn't purchase the items because I had to get back on the road. Unfazed, unapologetic, and disinterested, she shrugged and without turning around, she told me to dump the items wherever and she'd get them later. After the gentleman finished checking out, she closed the last register. I left because she was clearly not concerned with my business. I wish that when she saw me looking for an open register that she had told me that she was closing all the registers in another two minutes for the next ten minutes. Poor service and certainly not customer focused.
